OUR
STORY Our precious daughter, Makenzie Kay was born
November of 2005 and we have been so blessed to have her in our lives. We found
out the devastating news about Makenzies health on January 25 where
doctors said she had Partial AV Canal Defect and would need open heart surgery
probably before her first birthday. Words cannot express the feelings and
emotions that we felt afterwards. Little did we know that there were more
things going on than just her heart. The next day we saw a pulmonologist and
found out that Makenzie had RSV which led doctors to believe she was in
congestive heart failure. One month later, Makenzies RSV subsided and we
started treating for Asthma and acid reflux! As a parent of a child that has
had many health issues, I can totally relate to how exhausting and overwhelming
it can be at times like these. On July 10, 2007 Makenize had her open heart
surgery in Iowa City, Iowa. Thanks to her surgeon and the staff that took care
of her, Mak was out in 3 days. Makenzie ended up having a Atrioventricular
Septal Defect, common Atrioventricular valve insufficiency, and a small
Ventricular Septal Defect. We are very thankful that her surgery went very well
and that she is with us today. It has been a long road and we wouldn't have
made it without our Wonderful Savior, family, and friends! THANK YOU!
